About Me

Your online English tutor for kids, ages 4–10

Katie, founder of Garden and Ivy Studio, smiling outdoors

Hello, I’m Katie.

I believe children learn best when they have wonderful books to read, interesting things to talk about, and opportunities to explore the world around them.

I hold a Master of Arts in Teaching from The University of Southern Mississippi and am a Mississippi licensed educator with endorsements in English, Library Media, and Gifted Education. My experience as a school librarian and online English teacher has shaped my approach to teaching and deepened my appreciation for the role that stories, conversation, and meaningful experiences play in language development.

I’ve seen how great books spark curiosity, how thoughtful questions encourage deeper thinking, and how giving children time to express their ideas builds confidence.

As a homeschool mom, I also understand the value of learning that leaves room for curiosity, imagination, nature, and good books. I created Garden & Ivy Studio to bring these elements together through personalized online lessons and thoughtfully designed homeschool enrichment resources.

My goal is simple: to help children become thoughtful readers, careful observers, and confident speakers while nurturing a genuine enjoyment of learning and observation of Creation.

That’s the heart of Garden & Ivy Studio.

Garden & Ivy Resources

Thoughtfully designed homeschool enrichment resources inspired by living books, nature study, narration, art, geography, and history. Charlotte Mason–influenced materials that families can adapt to their children's ages, abilities, and interests—with flexibility to use as much or as little as they wish.

Stories. Conversation.  Nature.

English becomes the language of stories, questions, discoveries, and ideas. Children learn language by using it — and at Garden & Ivy Studio, every lesson gives them a real reason to listen, speak, think, and respond.
