Garden & Ivy Reading & Phonics Studio
Personalized, one-on-one online phonics lessons for young readers. Help your child build a strong foundation in reading through structured phonics instruction, guided practice, and engaging early readers. In individual lessons, children learn to connect letters with sounds, blend sounds into words, and apply their growing skills to reading simple stories.
Build Early Reading Skills with Confidence
A Personal Approach to Early Reading
Every child brings a different combination of strengths and needs to reading instruction. One-on-one lessons provide opportunities for focused practice, encouragement, and instruction that responds to your child's progress.
My goal is to help your child develop the skills and confidence to approach reading with growing independence.
About Me
Hello, I’m Katie.
I believe a child’s literacy journey thrives in an environment filled with stories and wonder. With a Master of Arts in Teaching and years of experience as a school librarian and educator, I provide customized one-on-one online phonics support.
In my lessons, I guide young learners through the foundational steps of decoding and early reading, helping them cultivate the self-assurance needed to bridge sounds into words.
Garden & Ivy Studio was born from my desire to combine structured reading with a love for the nature and beautiful books. My mission is to help each student become a confident and capable reader and a thoughtful observer of Creation.

Is Your Child Ready?
Reading & Phonics Studio is designed for children who are ready to begin learning to read through structured phonics instruction.

Be at least 4½ years old.
Recognize and name the letters of the alphabet.
Be able to participate in a 25-minute online lesson, with adult support as needed.
Have sufficient listening and language skills to follow simple directions and engage with a short story.
What We'll Work On
Learn the sounds
Learn the phonograms A–Z plus TH, SH, CH, CK, NG and NK, and practice hearing the sounds inside words.
Read real stories
Practice reading smoothly and with expression in the program's readers.
Your child will:
Put the sounds together
Use those sounds to read short-vowel words, words with consonant blends, plurals and compound words.
Understand what they read
Talk about new words and connect the story to their own experience.
“Ms. Katie helps me read well. I look forward to her class every morning.”
